1. About this privacy policy

At Ferðir.fo we respect your privacy and place great emphasis on protecting your personal data.

This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and stored, and what rights you have.

We process personal data in accordance with the Faroese Data Protection Act, Parliamentary Act no. 80 of 7 June 2020 on the protection of personal data. Where relevant, processing is also carried out in accordance with the GDPR.

2. What personal data we collect

When you contact us, send an enquiry or book a trip, we may process, among other things, your name, address, email address, phone number, booking information, travel information and preferences related to the trip.

In connection with payment, information may be processed by our payment provider. Ferðir.fo does not store full card details if these are processed directly by the payment provider.

In certain cases it may also be necessary to obtain other information required to arrange the trip. If sensitive personal data is needed, it will only be processed where there is a legal basis for doing so.

3. Why and on what basis we process information

We process personal data to respond to enquiries, make and manage bookings, communicate with you about the trip, provide assistance before, during and after the trip, and fulfil statutory obligations, for example relating to bookkeeping and invoicing.

Where processing is necessary to enter into or perform an agreement with you, the legal basis is the agreement. Where processing is necessary to comply with a statutory obligation, the legal basis is that obligation.

If we use your information for purposes that require consent, such as certain marketing or non-essential tracking, consent will be requested in advance.

4. Cookies and analytics

ferdir.fo may use necessary cookies and similar technology to make the website function.

We may also use analytics tools to gain insight into how the website is used. If such processing requires consent, these technologies will not be activated until you have given your consent.

You can change or withdraw a given consent.

5. Who we share information with

We only pass on personal data when necessary to provide you with the trip or service.

This may include, among others, airlines and other transport providers, hotels and accommodation, ticket and activity providers, payment providers, IT and hosting providers and other partners necessary to process your booking.

We do not sell personal data to advertising companies or other unrelated third parties.

Where a provider processes information on our behalf, we ensure that the processing takes place in accordance with applicable data protection rules.

6. Transfer of personal data abroad

In connection with trips and the use of IT providers, it may be necessary to transfer personal data to providers outside the Faroe Islands.

If personal data is transferred to a country that does not have an adequate level of protection, we ensure that a suitable legal basis and safeguards are in place in accordance with the data protection legislation.

7. How long we keep the information

We only keep personal data for as long as it is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Information necessary to process a trip is kept for as long as necessary for the booking and any subsequent matters.

Information that must be retained for bookkeeping or other statutory obligations is kept for the period required by applicable law.

When the information is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.

8. Security

We have appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, misuse and disclosure.

9. Your rights

Under the data protection legislation, depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate information, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing.

If processing is based on consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the consent was withdrawn.

Contact us at ferdir@ferdir.fo, if you wish to exercise any of these rights.
